Know About Blind Pimples: Try These Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Them

According to dermatologists, 50 to 80 percent of the time, blind pimples go away on their own but that could take a few weeks to a few months

Acnes and pimples are a common problem which we all go through at some point of time in life. The regular scrubs and acne creams that are made for surface breakouts, won’t work on hard pimples.

If your skin is acne-prone, then you may have noticed regular lumps on your face. These lumps don’t have a ‘head’ like other pimples and these pimples are called blind pimples. These are a type of acne that develops beneath the skin’s surface.

It is usually caused by a cyst or nodule that is formed when sebum or oil, bacteria, and dirt gets trapped in the pores. A blind pimple is also known as cystic acne that appears like a large white area under your skin that may not be noticeable from a distance, but you can feel the lump that’s painful to the touch.

Thus, the affected area might turn red due to inflammation of the surrounding skin. Blind pimples are considered to be the most difficult kind of acne to treat because they are deeply rooted under your skin. Regular acne creams or scrubs and pads are generally made for surface breakouts that don’t work on the hard pimples and may even make everything worse.

Therefore, blind pimples are different from the typical zits, so it is advised to stop trying all the regular acne tricks on them. Sometimes it may also turn into Cancer. Blind pimples are not so hard to get rid of as many people think. They can be easily treated with patience and care. There are some effective tips to heal blind pimples under the skin.

Causes of Big Blind Pimples

Acne is often caused by a surge of hormones, especially cortisol. This is the major reason why blind pimples are mostly noticed around menstrual cycles among women. The skin’s oil glands react to the hormonal surge by overproducing sebum, which can cause the gland to become engorged, swollen, or hardened.

Another reason is stress. Stress can also increase the acne-causing hormones. Managing stress levels should always be an important part of your acne treatment.

According to dermatologists, 50 to 80 per cent of the time, blind pimples go away on their own. But that could take a few weeks to a few months. If they last longer they are more likely to leave an atrophic scar, which is like a crater or an ice-pick scar. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to get rid of blind pimples overnight.

Alert: Never try to squeeze or pop a blind pimple or any acne. Doing so can worsen inflammation, and also cause scarring.

It is said that a cortisone injection is the fastest way to get rid of a blind pimple or cystic pimple. But cortisone shots can be pricey. One should not forget that this treatment is basically a chemical treatment.

Blind Pimples: Try these Home Remedies

Apply a Warm Compress

Warm or hot water is always helpful for overall health and our skin. To avoid blind pimples try soaking a clean washcloth in hot water, and apply the towel to the affected area. This may help in releasing the pus. It will also heal the area.

Don’t make it too hot as it can burn your skin. Try to apply the warm compress for 10 to 15 minutes three to four times a day.

Wear An Acne Sticker

Acne stickers are really helpful. You can place the acne sticker directly over the blind pimple. It may help in removing bacteria, sebum, and dirt from your skin. Most acne stickers contain salicylic acid, which is an acne-fighting agent.

You can find acne stickers at your local drugstore. Use it daily until the blind pimple is gone. But make sure to change it at least once every 24 hours.

Mix Antibiotic With Benzoyl Peroxide

Topical antibiotics like clindamycin and erythromycin help in getting rid of the acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. You can use these antibiotics in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide, which will dry out the blind pimple. Try to apply this combination around the affected area twice a day.

Try Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil acts wonders for the skin. Before using tea tree oil, don’t forget to dilute it with carrier oils such as coconut, jojoba, and olive oil . Try to apply this diluted mixture twice a day until the blind pimple heals completely. Or you can also leave it on overnight and rinse off in the morning during your usual face-washing routine.

Try to consult a dermatologist if these home remedies don’t suit you and it is also recommended that you should always consider seeing a dermatologist if you get recurring blind pimples regularly.
