Wockhardt Hospitals Celebrates Patient Safety Week
Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd., a prominent chain of tertiary care super-specialty hospitals in India, recently observed Patient Safety Week from September 18th to September 21st, 2023. This initiative was in sync with the global celebration of World Patient Safety Day by the World Health Organization (WHO) on September 18th. The theme for this year, ‘Engaging patients for patient safety,’ underscored the critical role patients and their families play in healthcare safety. Throughout these four days, Wockhardt Hospitals conducted various activities across its Nagpur, Rajkot, Mumbai Central (South Mumbai), and Mira Road (North Mumbai) facilities to reinforce patient safety protocols and practices.
The event commenced with a virtual inauguration through a Zoom call, with participation from associates across all units. Ms. Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director of Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd., expressed, “Prevention is always better than cure.” Globally, a significant portion of avoidable harm in healthcare results from unsafe practices. Wockhardt Hospitals remains dedicated to delivering high-quality care and prioritizing patient safety.
Interactive Events Foster a Culture of Safety
Over the four days, multiple interactive events aimed at reinforcing the hospital’s protocols on patient safety took place. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation from the senior leadership team, doctors, administrators, infection control officers, nursing leaders, staff members, patients, and their relatives. Activities included the Patient Safety Quiz Competition, Designing a Safety Logo Competition, Poster Competition, and Patient Safety Slogan Competitions, covering themes such as Surgical safety, Fire safety, Hazmat safety, Patient safety goals, Radiation safety, Hand hygiene, Emergency Codes, and Needle stick injury.

This includes areas such as medication safety, fall prevention, and surgical safety. The hospital invests extensively in staff training to ensure that patients receive the highest level of care.
