The integrative medicine centre of the All India Institue of Ayurveda (AIIA) was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Department of Integrative Medicine of AII at the Safdarjung hospital. The inauguration was done by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya along with Union Minister Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal.
While inaugurating the facility, Mandaviya said that the centre will be helpful in harnessing the potential of India’s rich heritage and medical knowledge. Mandaviya said that the integration of India’s medical knowledge with modern advancements in allopathy will be really beneficial for the people of the country.
“Both traditional and modern medical practices have proved to be beneficial for humans. It will provide better avenues of health and wellness when integrated together. Therefore, the need of the hour is that each medical system compliments each other to give better results. This is the only way to ensure the well-being of our citizens. Also, it will take us a step closer to achieving health for all,” Mandaviya added.
Emphasising that health is crucial for wealth creation, Mandaviya said that India has finally connected health with its development story.
He also Highlighted the Importance of Holistic Healthcare in the Growth of the Country.
Mandaviya said that the government is committed to creating last-mile delivery of healthcare services. “Health and wellness remain the key focus area and there’s a lot that needs to be done,” he added.
According to the Health Minister, there are more than 1,56,000 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) in the country where the government is running health and wellness programmes.
“India has achieved opening more than 1.56 lakh HWCs before December 31, 2022 which are turning out to be crucial in providing various types of services to our citizens,” he said.
He said that experts and even the private medical sector want to push forward this integrative medicine approach.
