Very little effort is required by core muscles when holding dumbbells in both hands. So it not going to strengthen the core. The better way of doing this is to hold a dumbbell in one hand at a time. This can be enough to challenge the opposite side.

Dumbbell Curls and Triceps Extensions:-
These exercises will not target the fat on your arms and is not helpful in burning a sufficient amount of calories. Go for it if strengthening your arms is the goal.
